Daily Weather Update from FOX Weather: Tropical Storm Melissa likely to form as heavy rain soaks I-95 corridor
Invest 98L is likely to develop into a tropical depression or Tropical Storm Melissa this week. Meanwhile, a powerful cold front bringing heavy rain and gusty winds to the Northeast is slowing down commuters along the Interstate 95 corridor.
A new storm system will bring rain chances to North Texas later this week and into the weekend.
In Orange and San Bernardino counties, a flash flood watch will continue through Tuesday afternoon for the Bridge, Line, Apple, El Dorado and Airport burn scars. Hillsides stripped of vegetation by wildfires can make soil repel water, which can lead to increased runoff and flooding.
"The primary hazard ... will be a brief period of heavy rain during the morning rush hour," National Weather Service forecasters wrote.
A front goes by Tuesday morning without much commotion. Skies become sunny and highs reach the mid 70s in the metro. Another system brings increasing rain chances Friday into Sunday.
