San Francisco police are investigating a fatal late-night shooting by an officer in the Union Square district of an armed man whom officials said was suspected of involvement in an earlier incident in which a vehicle ran onto a sidewalk,

San Francisco Police shot and killed an armed security guard shortly after 1 a.m. Friday. They say the man was suspected of driving onto the sidewalk and hitting two people and a cyclist hours earlier.
