The Litany of the Saints Prayer Was Used as Early as the 3rd Century

Each time we celebrate the feast of All Saints, we begin our service with the Litany of Saints, where we chant the names of our loved ones who have died since last All Saints Day. “O good and gracious God, we thank you for the companionship of all the saints whose faithful witness reveals your abiding love. May the hope they give us nourish our longing to love and serve you. Redeem our past; transform our present; and direct our future. This we pray through Christ Jesus our Lord. Amen.” #allsain
