During calving season, cows and calves are not separated. We bring the newborn calf in if the weather is extremely cold, maybe the calf seems a little slow and may need help nursing, etc., and the cow follows. Our job during calving is to help when needed. To provide them with the best care possible, which sometimes means having the cow follow the calf in to the shed for assistance.
